Player Pathway & Clubs

Touch is a fast paced and highly skilled game that anyone can play at any age, probably the only sport like it in the world! There are a huge range of opportunities to get involved in Edinburgh, from just a casual run around in the park through to elite level clubs that tour the UK and Europe.

The game is developing rapidly in Scotland and there is a natural pathway occurring for people starting out in the game. Joining a club is the first step on your pathway to mastery!

Below are details of the four constituted clubs in Edinburgh.

Galaxy Touch Club originated in 1987 Auckland, New Zealand. Currently known as the largest touch club in the world. The Edinburgh franchise opened in 2008 with just an elite mixed side and has grown each year since, now with three different tiers of mixed touch plus mens and womens sides too. The club has a number of international representatives and some of Scotland's top coaches. We welcome players of all ages and sexes, regardless of ability!

Representing Edinburgh

The first rung in representative touch is the Capital Challenge, this is a three game series between Edinburgh Flames and Edinburgh Ice, this is used as a selection tool for teams to represent Edinburgh at the National Championships.

At the National Championships the best players in the country amass to compete for their region (Edinburgh, Glasgow, Central and North East) in a bid to be crowned best region in Scotland. In 2015 Edinburgh was proud to win both the Mens and Womens categories and once again be top region.

The National Championships double up as a selection tool for the National Selectors too. Players are spotted here and then invited to attend Scotland trials.
