About Edinburgh Touch
Welcome to the official website of Edinburgh Touch. The regional body set up to promote and develop the sport of touch (also known as touch rugby) in the Edinburgh area. We are a Non-Profit organization.
The ET aims to be a one-stop point of contact for information on and assistance with touch in the Edinburgh area. Anyone interested in touch, including players, referees and tournament organisers, will be able to come to us for assistance. Edinburgh Touch will provide leagues affiliated with the national governing body, the Scottish Touch Association (STA), with support and services that ensure anyone wanting to play the sport can do so in a safe and enjoyable environment. Edinburgh Touch will offer refereeing and coaching courses and organise the selections and training for the regional squads.
What is Touch Rugby?
The season generally runs from March through to October and is played on a pitch half the size of a rugby field (ie 50m x 70m). The game emphasises running, agility, passing, catching and communication. Touch is often referred to as Touch Rugby, but there is no tackling, lineouts, scrumming. This makes it appealing to a wide range of ages and abilities, from juniors to masters and from slight to heavy builds.
