National Youth Development officer Sara Mears in currently in talks with the SRU and a number of schools with the aim of starting Scotland's first Youth Touch Series.

Sara has been involved in touch for a number of years now and recently became a European Champion as part of the Scotland Mixed side at the European Championships in Paris last summer. Away from touch she also has considerable knowhow and expertise in dealing with children. The combination of this knowledge puts Sara in the perfect place to pioneer this scheme.

The scheme is looking to target 6 - 8 schools with the aim of putting together 6 mixed teams of under 18yr olds. These youths will form two leagues, one to compete in the Big Blue leagues and the other in the Edinburgh Touch Superleague. These league will run for 6 weeks throughout the summer months. Both sexes will receive training beforehand so when they come to the business end of it all they will be primed!
